Inuit Youth participation and leadership in Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) activities and initiatives are essential. As ICC prepares for a new year and for our next General Assembly, we want to hear more about the priorities of Inuit youth, especially when it comes to climate change, to help us shape the planning of our future in an effort towards protecting, promoting, and preserving our way of life and our environment.
We are seeing climate change accelerating at alarming rates in our communities and the resounding impact it is having on all aspects of our lives, our livelihoods, and our future. ICC wants to listen to and learn from Inuit youth with the aim of understanding priorities related to climate change that are important to our youth. To do this, we are holding two virtual engagement workshops open to any Inuk in Canada between the ages of 18-35 to discuss and reflect on what is most important to individuals and communities right now, and in the context of climate change. The time and date is included in the poster’s attached.
Please note, these are two separate workshops to accommodate time zone differences.
These workshops will directly feed into ICC’s work at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other activities and how we can involve Inuit youth at these tables.
We welcome you to join us for either workshops dates! If you would like to register or have any questions, please send me an e-mail :)
I look forward to hearing and learning from you!
Aingai,
Crystalmit
